We bought Kirsty in 2007 after she had been imported from Oklahoma. She was just a camouflage shell and the only interior items were the front seats and steering wheel! She had no engine or soul at that time.
We realised her potential and had her transported from South Wales to Scotland where she sadly remained in Pams dads farm shed until 2009 when Greg finally had a chance to to start the restoration.
She thereafter went into a garage for the welding, respray and roof conversion done due to not having our own garage premises to work in at that time.
This work took much longer than anticipated due to spiralling costs and we finally got her back in 2012 but she still had a lot of work to be completed.
We then had to have her interior furniture designed and made plus a bespoke engine built, not to mention all the finishing touches to complete the restoration.
Finally in October 2016 we got Kirsty MOT’d and registered with the DVLA.
Greg and Pam felt so relieved to have had accomplished a very lengthy and expensive restoration and can’t wait to share our ‘pride and joy’ with everyone else on their special occasion or out and about.
A huge thank you from Greg and Pam goes to our dear friend Scott Presley for helping to take this our VW Bus to another level. His tireless work getting the mechanical side of things fitted properly and problem solving every step of the way is testament to Scott’s capabilities as a fantastic craftsman and versatile petrolhead. While getting the last stages of the Camper ready for the MOT just about every problem reared itself making it even more challenging. He gave so much of himself in evenings and weekends that no words can really convey how much appreciated you are by us!
